This is where the game takes a huge divergence from the book/film it is based on. What is so impressive about Charlotte is that she actually spells out the phrases using only her web and not scraps of paper. Don't let this bug you too much, taking a concept like Charlotte's Web and making it onto an adventure game is a bit of a challenge. There is little to no action in the book so a bit of creative license is sometimes necessary to make a good gameplay experience.
