Platformer

A game where the goal is to movie through a level via a series of platforms often by running and jumping.

CGI / Computer-Generated Imagery

CGI / Computer-Generated Imagery: A technique where three dimensional animations are created using a computer.

Handheld

Portable video game system that integrates the processor, screen and controls in a single unit that is small enough to fit in and be played with wholly in ones hand.

Console

A home video game system that connects to a television and/or monitor and utilizes external controllers.

Cartridge

The casing and hardware containing a video game software program.

Cartridge-Based

Video game system that reads the game software off of cartridges. See also cartridge.

Gaming

Gaming: 1. Alternate term for the video game genre. 2. The act of accessing or playing video games. For Example: Definition 1: “Gaming Press” is video game press. Definition 2: “I brought my Game Boy with us to the mall, so while you’re shipping I’ll be gaming.”
